Mr. Death: Detached from life

Mr. Death hails Cockholm, the very crappytol of Swedead, as home. Not funny, only a bit more amusing than ball-cancer circa, so watch me cut the crap and get to business well before dawn this time around. We are talking a relatively new band, 2007 their year of origin, but according to some bullshit I read on the net certain members have participated in legendary bands earlier on in their careers. Turns out Tiamat is the keyword, not legends in my book, but more about them never again.
The sound of Herr Death is old-school death as mixed by Thomas Skogsberg in his quite renowned Sunlight Studio. Once upon a time, the early 90’s circa, every band doing death eventually ended up at his place. Minus a few. Those days aren’t here anymore and what mentioned Mr. did with “Detached from life” won’t bring them back. Not a fucking chance. It’s not the worst job I ever heard but compared to himself at his best it sounds really rather not very good at all. Wooly, or flocculent if you like, is namely how the once awesome Sunlight buzz sounds anno 2009. Sad. And even more sad, the guitar-tone close to mute the effort courtesy of the other participants. Minus the vocalist, but not the drummer. In fact, when Mr. Death does half-blasts it sounds like the skin-basher is wisping sauce with a passion rather than doing them drums.
Put another way, this band is best when the going gets slow. Unfortunately, not that I care for real, they are in half-blast mode quite fucking often. And all of their riffs are stolen but not one of them improved upon. So I ask, why settle for haphazardly produced shit with a couple of fine riffs onboard when there is Total Devastation? You shouldn’t, do “Honour the disorder” instead.
